Robin – Tiny crazy
Robin came to us back in November 2024 not long after we’d heartbreakingly suddenly lost our beloved tiny brave tiger Willow.
Robin was part of a two-kitten feral rescue mission that we were contacted about. She came with a slightly older (and we think non-blood related) female we’ve named Frankie – but they were tightly bonded and found together.
She is rather small for her age and we believe that she is in part a ragdoll or rex crossbreed.
Sadly we won’t ever really know much about their past months before we rescued them as is common in our “line of work” but now they have a secure, loving permanent safe home to thrive.
What we know:
Both ages were estimated to be 3 months when we collected them.
This is not possible as Robin was still tiny enough to not be fully weaned although she soon built up steam and grew strong and bouncy. Frankie was clearly older than her although we don’t know how old.
She is a lovely sleek shiny black with shadow stripes baby.
Her eyes are a milky grey green with piercing stare.
The tiny toe-beans are a super shiny cola/berry shade.
She loves to be stroked and hugged but had an unfortunate scare with an uninvited loud and rude guest that has since set her back and she takes flight at the slightest noise now until she reassesses the room and realises that she is again safe and secure.
She detests gravy food. She adores anything whiskas 1 Plus in jelly. She used to like dry food at least once a day and favoured Perfect fit junior and Whiskas kitten but after a small flu / sickness episode over winter she stopped being keen on eating anything at all and it took a long while to get her used to eating unaided again let alone biscuits. We noticed that she would tilt her head, choke, sneeze or generally not want to eat when it was dry food after this and the decision was made to switch to soft wet pouches again – which is where we’re at now. She eats whole bowls without issue this way, whereas we would struggle to encourage her to eat even a small handful immediately following the illness.
For the sake of her happiness and health, I see no point in forcing a food type upon her.
She has recently very occasionally demanded drys when she sees her family eating them. She does however enjoy the occasional Dreamies, Tesco tasty pillow treat or felix goody treat. We don’t give these out very often anymore as they all seem to prefer very sporadic extras.
They all do enjoy a good Tesco Meat Stick each now and then :-).
Robin has a very odd quirk where she won’t eat from your hand (not her fault, she never learned how) but she will smack your hand and smack a place on the floor where she will allow you to drop said tasty morsel. If you fail to notice or don’t do it fast enough – whap – smack smack (not hurtful, just directional/instructional).
Even now at almost a year after joining the family (this being written 6th Oct 25) she is still very small, slender and lightweight.
She originally lived in a bedroom house with Frankie, as they came together etc as said previously. However once they’d settled in they were supposed to move in with Luna who had been alone since losing Willow last October. Sadly this didn’t go according to plan as Luna felt very scared of Frankie (who even at first arrival was already much bigger than poor baby Lu who was 5 years old!) so things went a little… noisily. No actual fighting but loud… disgruntled noising.
We sadly had to keep them separated except at supervised play times but Robin would whine and wail for her big sister Luna as if she’d immediately recognised her (we soon had feelings of Willow being among us again mere hours after they’d arrived so this wasn’t a huge surprise to us). The best we could do was after breakfast each day let Robin stay with Luna until Evening and put her with Frankie again before bed. However this obviously meant that poor Frankie was left alone to play with her toys etc until her baby sister would return – which as you can imagine would get more … “oh, you’ve come back HAVE you…” the more this went on… causing “big sibling rough play” the more time past which Robin just wasn’t big enough to defend herself against.
Then something weird happened. Luna went in with Robin one day and refused to leave her smaller bedroom house. (not a surprise as it had been previously where Willow was when in her final days and previous to that it was Alby’s house and Lu had spent time there before) BUT where would we put Frankie? She went in to Luna’s (previously Willow & Lunas) larger 2 storey house and in an odd twist of fates Foxy moved in with her and immediately bonded.
